Fongo - talk and text App Reviews

Been using fongo app for 5 years now, voice quality of phone calls is exceptional. Conversations are always smooth, no stuttering or delay in voices, way better than typical quality of a cellular phone call and as good as regular landline quality. Gets better and better with each update. I happily purchased the ad-free upgrade, thats how much I like fongo! My only gripe is Im still getting anonymous fax spam even though Ive got the Block Anonymous Calls setting turned on. When fongo fixes this ongoing issue app will get 5 stars.

Good app had it for a year now ..... minimal advertising ..... couple glitches but Iam sure they straiten them out

I purchased remove ads but the updated app does respond to "restore" button at all. Now I have to use the app with ads. Sucks!

Update: 2016.12.07 - FONGO disclosing phone numbers to 3rd partys - getting spam text and phone calls. On both our iPhone 6s and 7 ringtone does not stay and reverts back to the silent System tone - meaning we never hear phone calls. Rather useless now and worse ported our long time numbers over. We wrote then about the problem and they said they were working on the issue- months and months ago. What could be a higher priority than fixing this????

I have a lot of missed called that arent registering as missed calls. Texts not going thru...notifications only seem to open if the app is open and running. Never was like that in the beginning. I used to think it was 5stars (4yr subscriber) nic I think its 3. Might look for a new app. Also cant receive pic messages and sent images show as a link that most people dont open, because it looks like spam.

Great app .works well . To much $ to remove the apps . Needs bigger fonts . Need an option to enlarge fonts for text way to small on my iPhone 7plus .

There are a lot of phone plans with high prices. It can be frustrating. I was frustrated. Then I found Fongo! Honestly, its a really well designed app. Very reliable and easy to use. I use it for almost all of my texting and calling now. My only frustration is that they dont have any Saskatchewan numbers available. Other than that, it is excellent and reliable.

hang freeze can t call. was great when released but now past 2 years it s slugish

Went from 5 stars to 2. Since the update I make a call and I cant press to cancel the call. The call back button does not call back...

We use it instead of having a landline. Works good & has everything you need.

Has some texting limitations but still a good app.

Excellent app. Some improvements needed. Fongo doesnt get all the text messages from cellphones which makes texting not reliable on this app. On some hospitality networks fongo is blocked although other apps like Skype or hangouts go through.

Supports new iOS 10 voip integration called callkit. This makes call notification just like regular calls instead of having push notifications in previous versions, which is a huge improvement! Everything works very well except picture/video messaging. Sending pictures is awkward and receiving just doesnt work. Only complaint is the UI is a bit dated.

Go for it, it is FREE! Free real phone number that people can call you. Better still, it emails you your voice message when you are not available to pick up. What a great feature. This app has Saved us hundreds of dollars. You no longer have to fight the greedy telecom companies to get a basic affordable plan. Thank you fongo team

I tried out Fongo when my Wind cell phone kept dropping calls. I love this app. The calls are crystal clear and free if they are local or between Fongo users. I am able to use the same phone number on my iPhone and my tablet. I also love that I am supporting a Canadian start up company instead of a mega corporation. Totally recommend you give it a try.

works pretty well, but crashes sometimes when trying to answer a call.
